Muscat

Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, with a population of over 500,000 is a bustling commercial centre with many businesses and government offices. Most international Airlines serve Muscat and national carriers, Oman Air and Gulf Air, operate local and international flights. A state of the art deep-water port, Mina Sultan Qaboos, is the nerve centre for Shipping.

Muscat City Tour Half Day
The tour starts with a visit to the Fish and vegetable markets in Muttrah.
The Muttrah Souq where you will find a mix of old and new. Sights, sounds and fragrances are in abundance.
Drive past corniche and to the capital area before we stop in front of the Sultan's Palace flanked by the Portuguese forts, Jalali and Mirani.
Visit Bait Al Zubair Museum for a fine display of Omani culture and history
Muscat City Tour Full Day

Board a traditional Omani Dhow for 2 hours cruise.
Pass the Yacht club of Muscat and fishing village of Sidab.
The harbour of historic Muscat, Jalali & Mirani forts and sail past Al Bustan Palace Hotel, Oman's premium hotel.
Back to Muscat. Kahwa and dates on board.

A'Sharqiya
With eleven wilayats, this is one of the most densely populated regions in Oman. The sea offers a lot to the visitor along with the fertile wadis, dramatic gorges. Necklaces of coral reefs lie along the beautiful coastline abundant with wildlife. Sur is the largest city in this region.

Return to Muscat in evening.
Wahiba Sands (Overnight Tour)
From Muscat, travel to Fanjah and through the sumail Gap. Stop over to observe village life in Sumail.
Continue on to Rawdah and the pit weavers of al Akhdar
Picnic lunch served in the shades of plantations.
After lunch we reach the undulating sands of Wahibah
Indulge in a bit of dune bashing. Camel rides are optional.
Enjoy a sumptuous BBQ and sleep under the stars or in barasti huts
Depart next morning after breakfast for Wadi Bani khalid and swim in clear water pools.

Travel through the Coast

Wadi Daiqah (Day Tour)
Start in the morning by 4WD
Reach wadi Daiqah, a wonderful wadi where water flows all year through.
Walk along the traditional falaj system of the village.

Time for relaxing, swimming and exploring nature.
Return to Muscat late in the evening.
Ras Al Hadd (Overnight Tour)
Start off at 8 am from Muscat and journey down the Coast stopping at Bimah Sinkhole a geological formation and a scenic wonder.
Pass through some magnificent sights with mountain on one side and Gulf of Oman on the other and reach Qalhat to see Bibi Miriam Tomb, the only building left standing after the Portuguese razed the town in the 16th century.
Picnic lunch at Mokhala beach.
We drive to Sur and we will visit the dhow yard where we see dhows being built in the same way they have been made for generations.
We reach Turtle Beach Resort. After a sumptuous dinner, we go to the beach to observe the nesting habits of the green turtles. Overnight at Turtle Beach Resort
Next day we move along the Coast to the bluffs at Ad Daffah and return to Muscat via Ibra

A'Dakhliya
A'Dakhliya with its eight wilayats is regarded as a county for trade between the coast and the interior. The region has a multitude of forts and watchtowers to guard the caravans and a 17th century if the witness to the glorious past.

Nizwa being the trade capital is known as the "pearl of Islam". For the visitor, mountains, wadis, handicrafts and historical interests guarantee good sights and experiences.


Tourist Attractions
Nizwa - Bahla - Jabrin (Day Tour)
A journey to the past through the Sumail Gap that divides the Western and Eastern Hajars and onto the Old Capital of Oman, Nizwa, famous for its silver souq and big round fort.
After visiting the souq and fort, we take our lunch from a local restaurant.
After lunch move to Bahla, renowned for it huge loam fort which is under renovation at present. Bahla is also known as the pottery capital of Oman. Bahla has been placed in the UNESCO's heritage list because of its cultural value.
Next visit is Jabrin fort, where you will find one of the most magnificent forts of Oman with its painted ceilings, dungeons, and hidden passages.
Return to Muscat in the evening.
 
Jebel Akdhar (Day Tour)
Leave Muscat at 8 am.
Drive through Sumail Gap and Izki.
We drive to the roof of Oman the Saiq Plateau and enjoy the cool weather
Picnic lunch or lunch at local restaurant
Return to Muscat late in the evening.
 
Jebel Shams (Day Tour)
Leave Muscat at 8 am.
Travel via Fanjah, Izki and Nizwa.
Stop at Nizwa for a stroll through the Old Capital of Oman
Drive to Al Hamra and stop at the old village of Ghul to see the abandoned Persian ruins.
Travel up to the Canyon near the summit of Jebal Shams and feel the cooler atmosphere
Picnic lunch near the rim
Visit the local weavers and haggle for their wares.
Return to Muscat late in the evening.
 
Jebel Akhdar (Overnight Tour)
Leave Muscat at 8 am and drive through the Sumail Gap and Izki by 4 WD
After Izki we drive up to the roof of Oman, the Saiq Plateau, which for hundreds of years has been accessible only on donkey's paths
The use of terraces on extremely steep mountain slopes is particularly impressive
Feel the change in climate on top of the mountain
Picnic lunch or lunch at local restaurant
A walk through the 'hanging gardens' along the falaj will be a lasting memory
Dinner and overnight at Jebel Akhdar hotel
After breakfast we stroll around to see some beautiful sights
Later, return to Muscat by lunchtime
 
Jebel Shams (Overnight Tour)
From Muscat travel to the interior via Fanjah, Izki, Nizwa by 4WD
Stop at Nizwa for a stroll through the Old Capital and continuing on to Al Hamra.
Visit the old village of Ghul to see the abandoned Persian ruins
Travel up the Canyon near the Summit of Jebel Shams
Feel the change in climate on top of the canyon.
Picnic lunch near the canyon.
Visit with local weavers and haggle for their wares.
Camp overnight near the rim of the Canyon. BBQ and campfire
Following day after breakfast we drive back to Muscat.
On our way we will stop at Misfat to see a picturesque village strapped on to the side of a mountain
 
Barricades and Beehive tombs (Overnight Tour)
A Journey to the past leading from Muscat through the Sumail to Nizwa, Bahla, Jabrin and on to Ibri by 4 WD
Visit the fortresses and castles, markets of past and present.
Dinner and overnight at hotel
Next day after breakfast, visit the ruined city of Sulaif and the Beehive tombs of Bat, that have stood since 3rd millennium BC without the help of mortar.

Al Batinah
Batinah stretches along the coast of the Muscat region. Al Batinah wilayats include, Barka, Al Masnaah, Suwaiq, Khaboura, Saham, Sohar, A'Rustaq, Shinas, Liwa, Nakhal, Wadi Al Maawil and Al Awabi. Forts, Castles and long beaches attract tourists and the place is famous for camel racing and bull fighting.

Tourist Attractions
Nakhl - Rustaq (Day Tour)
First stop is at Barka, a seaside town with small souqs and a fort along the shoreline
As you approach Nakhl, keep an eye out for the fortress that sits on a hillock outside the town. The fort's origin is pre-Islamic with major contributions by the Al Ya'ruba and the Al Busaidi dynasties. We visit the fort.
Visit the mineral-laden hot springs in Nakhl
Picnic lunch in one of the many shades
We then move to Rustaq to visit another pre-Islamic fort.
Later in the evening we return to Muscat
